Assistant Editor Position title: Physical Science (Applied Mathematics) Assistant Editor

Regarding the position:
Do you want to pursue a career in research publishing? With over 120 in-house journals in the physical, life, and health sciences, including prestigious journals like Advanced Science, Advanced Materials, and other Advanced journals, Angewandte Chemie, Chemistry Europe titles, Small, physica status solidi, Macromolecular titles, and Current Protocols, Wiley’s Comprehensive Editorial Evaluation Team is growing and is presently seeking new Assistant Editors.
How you’re going to influence things:
- From submission to acceptance for publication and export to production, oversee the peer-review process and editorial decision-making.
- This includes reviewing and prioritizing submitted manuscripts, choosing reviewers, evaluating reviewer reports and updated submissions, and making the final decision (acceptance or referral and transfer to relevant sister journals).
- Participate actively in a worldwide editorial team and work everyday alongside colleagues from various countries.
Engage in numerous (online) exchanges with our writers and reviewers, who are scholars from around the globe. - Participate in the deliberate procurement of fresh material for our publications, such as the development of special issues or series and the commissioning of invited papers.
- Participate in workgroups for (cross-functional/departmental) process optimization projects.
- Get practical experience in a variety of scholarly publishing-related fields.
What they’re trying to find:
- Own a PhD in a natural scientific field; any further postdoctoral experience would be helpful. At the moment, they are mostly seeking subject matter experts in numerical techniques with an emphasis on engineering or mechanics, computational science/mechanics/methods, and applied mathematics.
- Candidates with a background in photonics and other fields of condensed matter research are also encouraged. Physics
- possess a strong interest in science and its dissemination, and are willing to engage in a variety of research fields to further their expertise.
- Possess a solid grasp of the peer-review procedure (for instance, having worked as an author, editor, or reviewer in the past).
- Possess exceptional organizational, time-management, and communication skills, are self-driven, diplomatic, and adaptable, and have a strong command of the English language (both orally and in writing).
- Able to work well and efficiently with a wide range of coworkers in teams at different office locations across the world on a number of products.
- It would be beneficial to have prior publication or scientific news writing experience, familiarity with a manuscript management system (such as ScholarOne or Editorial Manager), and a passion for data analysis.
